UCDA Design Summit

Lauren Candito was one of the featured speakers at the UCDA Design Summit in Baltimore, Maryland.  Held March 24-27 at the Pier 5 Hotel, the conference was an opportunity for education professionals to focus on perfecting their brand.  It offered speakers, workshops and tools that helped with everything from forming and polishing communications plans to building an effective social media presence.

Lauren addressed the audience on two separate occasions.  The first presentation discussed how today’s students use social media.  The second presentation was titled “Tecnhbabble or Technobrilliance,” and offered an innovative look at how higher education associations are using social media to change the face of communications.

The presentations were so well received that Lauren has been contracted to speak again.  She is excited to be appearing at the UCDA Design Conference in Phoenix, Arizona held October 15-18.  This conference specifically targets designers working in the education field.

Reviews from Conference Attendees:

“Exceptional content, extremely relevant today and good for planning future campaigns/initiatives.”

“Best session I have attended on social media in a long time.”

“So knowledgeable about specific topics of presentation and all the semi-related things that people want to ask about.”

“Very well informed presenter.  Great info.  Loved all the examples, which provided ‘How To’ ideas for each tool/outlet.  She should come back next year to talk about the changes that happen during the next year.”

The University & College Designers Association (UCDA) inspires designers working in academia in North America and around the world by delivering relevant programming and benefits in a personal and thoughtful way. The organization provides for the professional and personal growth of its members, and advocates for designer and educators roles within their institution. UCDA works to elevate the importance of design overall.

Whitney Sewell discusses Gov. Scott’s Twitter town hall on Good Day Orlando

From Fox Orlando:

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) – He wanted your questions and you gave them to him in an open forum. Governor Rick Scott just held his first town hall meeting online. Thursday night, the governor held a Twitter town hall for 30 minutes.

The Governor responded to as many questions as he could, so now the question is, was it a hit and is this something that we could see happening more often.

Mike Dunston interviews Whitney Sewell from Social Media Solutions; she breaks it down.

From Fox 35 in Orlando:

Gift cards make a great last-minute gift, but they can easily be forgotten or misplaced after the holidays.

Now, there’s a mobile application, or “app,” that reminds you to use your money, and it keeps all your cards organized right on your phone.
